How to Make a Super Sparkly Beaded Hanging Plant Suncatcher

The sparkle is really the best part of this little beaded plant.

The beads are not flat or plain. They have lots of tiny cut facets and an AB iridescent finish, so they catch the light from different angles. When sunlight hits them, the beads can reflect soft rainbow-like spots around the room, which makes the finished plant look extra bright and magical.

Even though the final piece looks detailed, the process is simple. The kit comes with the beads, wire, eye pins, foam, moss, pot, and chain. No special tools are needed — just a pair of scissors.

What’s Included in the Kit

The kit includes:

Sparkly green beads
Beading wire
Eye pins
Foam

You only need a pair of scissors to cut the foam and wire

Step 1: Thread the First Bead

Start with the lightest green bead first, so each strand has a soft, natural color gradient from top to bottom. Thread it onto the wire, then wrap the wire around the bead to secure it in place.

Don’t worry about making every wrap perfect. Most of the wire will be hidden once the plant is finished.

Step 2: Make the Beaded Strands

Continue building each strand by adding beads from the lightest shade to the darkest shade. This creates a soft gradient effect, so the finished plant looks more natural and layered.

Each strand can use around 15–20 beads, depending on how long you want it to hang. The lengths do not need to match exactly — a mix of shorter and longer strands will make the plant look fuller and more organic.

For this style, you can make about 15 strands. Lay them on the table as you go, so it’s easier to compare the length, color flow, and overall fullness before placing them into the pot.

Step 3: Attach Each Strand to an Eye Pin

After finishing a beaded strand, thread the wire through the small loop of an eye pin. Wrap the wire around the loop a few times to secure the strand in place.

If the loop on the eye pin looks slightly open, gently press it closer before attaching the strand. A tighter loop helps keep the wire from slipping out while you place the strand into the foam later.

Repeat this step for each finished strand.

Step 4: Cut the Foam and Fit It Into the Pot

Cut the foam to fit inside the mini woven pot.

The foam should sit firmly inside the pot because it will hold the beaded strands in place. It does not need to look perfect, since the top will be covered with moss later.

Step 5: Cover the Foam With Moss

Add fake moss on top of the foam.

The moss helps cover the foam and any visible wire, making the pot look more finished. Press it gently into place and adjust it until the top looks full.

Step 6: Insert the Beaded Strands

Start placing the beaded pins into the foam.

Place some strands around the edge first so they can hang over the side of the pot. Then fill in the center to make the top look fuller.

Adjust the strands until the plant looks balanced from the front and sides.

Step 7: Add the Chain and Finish

Attach the hanging chain, then check the shape one last time.

Once everything is in place, the beaded hanging plant is finished. Hang it near a window, on a wall hook, or anywhere it can catch the light.
